Sheffield Hockey Club is one of the oldest clubs in the country, and benefits from being within a multi-sports venue at Abbeydale Park in south-west Sheffield.

We are proud to be one of the premier clubs in the North of England, providing an outstanding hockey experience, from participation through to elite performance, and welcoming players of all ages and abilities.

We currently run 7 men's and 5 women's adult league teams. The men’s 1st XI and women's 1st XI both play in the EHL Conference North. We are very proud to have produced and developed a number of players who have gone on to play for the home nations as well as in the Olympic Games for Team GB. A number of our club coaches have also progressed to the international level. We have even had one of our umpires officiate on the international circuit.

Sheffield Hockey Club can also boast a number of highly successful administrators who help run hockey in Yorkshire, the North and England Hockey.

We have a successful Youth Section with over 250 boys and girls aged 5 to 16. U10s, U12s, U14s, U16s and U18s all have competitive matches, playing in the Youth Leagues and Regional or National Championship Competitions. Many Sheffield youth members are involved in the England Hockey Talent System, taking part in county, regional and national age-group programmes.

Sheffield Hockey Club are a Talent Certified club, recognised by England Hockey for the quality of our talent development environment and provision for players at early talent development level. We have also been selected by England Hockey to host a Talent Academy, supporting youth athletes (aged 14-18) with the potential and commitment to make it to the highest level.

Off the pitch, we pride ourselves on an inclusive and welcoming social scene, with regular events through the season including our very popular Club Day, End of Season Dinner, and social hockey throughout the summer months.

We feel our club has three important strengths. Firstly, is our excellent YouthSection introducing hockey to hundreds of children and developing them for a lifetime in the sport. Second, is our elite performance teams, playing at a very high level and receiving top quality coaching and resources. Thirdly, we strive to make every single member’s experience better each year they are at the club.
