Sheffield Hockey Club has carried out a lengthy search for our men's performance squad lead coach, and the Executive Committee is very pleased to announce the appointment of Will Hearne.

Will has decided to prioritise coaching over playing for this season and his familiarity with the team, even with a number of players looking to move onwards and upwards, will provide continuity and stability with a view to regain promotion.

Will said he is "excited to see what can be achieved with a focused coaching role, rather than the player/coach that I have performed for the last few years. I am looking forward to working with a number of talented juniors who are rising through the ranks and students looking to come to Sheffield to play at the highest level. Together with a solid core of senior players this could be a very interesting year"

I am continuing as manager for the 22/23 season but I'm looking for anyone interested in taking on the role to shadow me to learn the role. It is a requirement within England Hockey rules, that national league teams require a manager on the side line to liaise with officials, and this can't be combined with a player role.
