Hi all,

What a fantastic result today from our U14 Girls Supra League Team. 100% effort from all of you which payed off with a win against a strong Thirsk team.

Here are a few words from your team captain for today...

Today, our U14 Tier 1 girls team took on Thirsk, a strong and challenging team. The match pushed our players to develop their use of unit play and working as a team all the way throughout the game, resulting in an awesome 4-0 win!

Our first goal was created from a fast break out on the wing, off a strong defensive tackle, distributing the ball out wide and into the oppositions half. The team followed up by passing the ball around in a triangle, in order to eliminate the defender. A slap shot was attempted from Evie Cole, deflecting off the keepers pads and into the left hand corner. Great goal Evie!

After a lot more excellent match play from both teams, Sheffield scored another goal. An interception was made by Hannah Proffitt, from a fast travelling ball across the goal from Thirsk, and after a quick D entry from Sheffield a shot was taken, resulting in our 2nd goal of the game. Another great goal, good goal Hannah!

Only a few minutes later, after some good elimination skills, strong tackles and great interceptions, we managed to win a long corner. After working our way into the D, taking a drive along the baseline which resulted in a cross to the back post, finished by Millie Hatfield, from a deflection, ending up in the back of the net! Great finish Millie!

When the whistle blew for half time, we discussed how we were planning on picking up the free Thirsk players who continued to receive strong passes off 16’s in the middle of the pitch, resulting in the team needing to rely on our defenders, or saved by our GK, making some brilliant saves today, Kaitlin Thomas.

After half time, we found possession was fairly even! After another fast break up the right wing, we managed to feed the ball in to Hannah Proffitt, scoring her second goal of the game! Well done again Hannah!

The end whistle was blown and after a hard fought second game in the Supraleague tournament, Sheffield came away with their 2nd win! All of our players should be extremely proud of themselves, from working as a team, continuing the maximum intensity, effort and energy from each and every one of us. We are all ready and raring to continue on our Supraleague adventure! Congratulations girls, a well deserved win!
