Pocklington 1s 0 - 3 Sheffield 2s

Early start way, way too early for hockey with a 7.45 meet at Abbeydale. The day started off with Marcie struggling to restart her car and then later stating she had her foot on the wrong pedal; well done Marcie!!.

After this early hiccup, Sheffield made their way to Pocklington to find no changing rooms and having to change in the disabled toilets. This also made the team talk difficult with the majority of the team in the room, and 2 or 3 having to sit inside the toilet cubicle. Great start to the day!

Onto the game; Sheffield dominated posession right from the start and had many circle entries, but couldn’t get the ball over the line. Eventually, 15 mins in, they won their 1st corner of the game and a back to injector routine was finished well by Marcie to make it 1-0. Another short corner was awarded 6 minutes later and this time it was El who converted, reacting quickest to a rebound and finding the back of the net to make it 2-0 to Sheffield.

Sheffield continued to create chances but unfortunately couldnt add to their tally before half time.

Into the 2nd half, Sheffield dominated and created plenty of chances in a very one sided game, but continued to be thwarted by the Pocklington GK who had an absolute blinder of a game. Caz came closest to adding to the tally mid way through the half when Sheffield broke and a neat one two with El led to her striking the post. Eventually, Sheffield deservedly got their 3rd and final goal of the game in the last minute with another short corner routine where Marcie added to her tally with a fine smash into the backboard.

Special mention to Claire and Lily for stepping up from the 3rd team this week, with 5 players unavailable, and played fantastically well.

Onto the dotd, very honorable mentions for Marcie and her car problems and El who decided to do a tik tok dance at the end of the game, however this was awarded to myself, firstly for saying I expected the opposition to play agricultual hack and wack village hockey which offended those born and bred in a village, in fairness I was also born and bred in a village! Secondly, for saying to Emma she looked really tired during the team talk, for which she felt I was offending her appearance, queue extra grovelling and compliments to dig myself out of extra large hole I had created for myself ?
