The day started out great with Ellie finding my lost Sheffield quarter zip in the back of her van (I’ve never been in the back of her van). A mystery we’ll never know the answer to. The sun was shining and we were all ready for game day!

Spirits were high as Estelle arrived in her previous week ‘DOD’ outerwear, rocking her Birks and Donald Trump socks.

After a great team talk with Rob in the changing rooms we headed out with our positive heads on. A good warm-up prepared and a bit of a shower from the water canons and we were good to go.

Sheffield went out fighting and applied the pressure to Stokesley straight away. We made connection after connection across the pitch and created some great opportunities to score a goal. The team worked hard to win the ball.

Some lovely transfers from the back line found the HB’s then the IF’s. A ball came to Tash who executed a perfect deflection/shot across the goal and into the back of the net. 1-0. Not long after, which came again from some lovely build up play, a ball found Hana who did the strike of the season and smashed it into the back of the goal. 2-0.
The passing between lines was excellent and the team were working so well together.
Attackers created a few short corners which we were unable to convert.
The first half felt good, enjoyable and we were in a strong position.

Half time.
Lots of positively on the sideline and constructive feedback from Rob. We all agreed that there was lots of room in the middle and to play it in and out.

The second half. Stokesley decide to change their press - not as much room.. in the middle. The play became quite scrappy for 10-15 minutes and you could feel the tension building ? Cards were being thrown out here there and everywhere (rightly so) but Sheffield still keeping the majority of possession and didn’t panic too much…..
Stokesley had a few opportunities but couldn’t get a shot on target. The shots they did get on target were saved by Alice ??

The second half ended with some beautiful passing; perfectly managed at the back and a lovely 2-0 win!

MOM - Hana J. Exceptional play! Untouchable at HB/CM. On another level.
DOD - Me. Maddie and I promised ourselves we wouldn’t get into this cycle of getting DOD each week but here I am again ?
The gif is an accurate representation of me trying to not touch the ball with my feet in the ‘D’ today while stood on my own.

P.S. Kate set fire to a whole tray of brownies and she decided to mention this after we’d announced DOD…
