Women's 1st XI - 2 Norths Notts - 1

With some different faces coming into the team there was both optimism and nervousness in the air. Whilst Wolf said the score doesn’t matter, let’s be honest, it did.

After a strong team talk in the questionable changing rooms, we were ready.

It took us a whilst to get our eye in, Notts took advantage of this and scored an early goal following some lax man marking.. here we go again we thought!

In response to this, we starting to get to grips on how each other play. We quickly built pace leading to a number of short corners. One of which slapped in from the top from our very own Kate Beesley.

Pace and confidence continued to build and in the last five of the 1st half, the hard work at training paid off as the press came into its own.

We continued to press throughout the second half and, although appearing tired, we weren't not quite as tired as Notts.

Using our forward fast first tactic (FFF) we started to throw passes together and began to play smart hockey which lead to goal number 2, which came from Harriet Walker slapping it in from the top of the D and, to her surprise, the ball went into the back of the net.

2-1 full time.

A great positive start and a taster of things to come for the Women's 1st XI this season.
