The SHC Executive Committee is very pleased to announce that both our women's and men's performance programmes will be led by Paul Bradford.
Paul was born in Pietermaritzbug, South Africa, where his love of hockey was nurtured during his time studying at Maritzburg College. Before studying architecture at the University of Pretoria, Paul spent time at Whitgift School as hockey coach alongside former GB and England player Ashley Jackson, winning a number of national titles. Paul has played, coached, managed and umpired in South Africa's provincial hockey. More recently, Paul has been working in Seville as an architect, which was where he was interviewed for the SHC roles.
Paul will lead the women's programme with the support of a well known, very experienced, local coach, who will take on a part-time assistant coach role. Kath Hughes and Beth Sanderson will continue to lead the team as co-captains. Joining the set-up isElise Charlton who will take up the matchday manager's role with the first team squad. On the men's programme, Paul will supported by newly appointed assistant coach Rob Ward, whilst Kieran Smith will continue in his role as second team coach following a successful championship winning season last year. Continuing in her role for yet another season will be Michele Daw, who will be the men's performance squad manager.
