Changes in England Hockey Membership Fees
Following a successful vote at the 2025 AGM, England Hockey will implement a new club membership model from September 2025. This new system is based on adult team numbers but also, for the first time, all players will be counted equally, ensuring that the collective strength of every club is recognised in how they contribute to and benefit from the national game. In the past, SHC has simply paid per team we run.
From September 2025, a new annual player registration fee of £15.50 for teens and adults, and £10 for U12s will be introduced. As a result, SHC will be paying around £4.5K more to EH than last season.
England Hockey tells us that this fee is more than just a registration cost – it's an investment in your experience, your development, and the future of hockey.
Around 60% of your registration fee will go towards personal benefits, which EH hope will make your experience on and off the pitch safer, better, and more rewarding:
• Insurance Cover: Personal accident insurance provides protection every time you step on the pitch.
• Exclusive Discounts: Enjoy savings on leading hockey essentials – including Opro mouthguards.
• Priority Ticket Access: Be first in line for major events, including the EuroHockey Championships 2027.
The next 20% of your fee funds free courses in coaching, officiating, and safeguarding – ensuring those who lead your sessions are trained to the highest standard. You’ll also have access to these courses yourself, helping you build new skills or get involved in giving back to the sport.
The final 20% of your fee funds initiatives to grow and promote hockey:
• Free-to-air hockey on Channel 4 means more people can watch the sport you love.
• Support for State Schools opens up hockey to thousands of new players through targeted funding, teacher training, and national partnerships with organisations like the Youth Sport Trust.
England Hockey point out that you will benefit from:
• Access to free development courses to support your journey as a player, coach, or umpire.
• A more visible, inclusive, and better-connected sport, on and off the pitch.
• The chance to be part of something bigger – helping hockey grow for generations to come.
On their website, England Hocke state, “This isn’t just a fee. It’s your part in shaping the sport’s future.”
They continue, “This new model isn't just about membership - it’s about driving your club's success and elevating the experience for every player by building a future-focused and inclusive hockey community. Whether you're working to develop your coaching staff, boosting participation, or simply love the game, this membership is built to benefit your club and every individual within it.”
