The league is here (for most)!

Finally the 2018/19 season can begin for most teams. Our men’s 1st team start next week at Leeds but travel to Birmingham Uni for their last pre-season game on Sunday. Our men’s 7s and 8s should start next week. The men’s development team begin on 6th October. Hopefully everyone else will earn 3 points and lots of goals.

First up at Abbeydale the men’s 5th team face local rivals Rotherham at 10.15. Current and former chairmen, Jack Rodgers and Mark Beavis will be umpiring this potentially feisty match. Our women’s 2nd team face Leeds Adel at 11:45. A hard game in their return to Yorkshire Prem against last year’s league winners. The women’s 3rd team follow at 1.30 versus Wakefield, a game that ended scoreless last season. The final game of the day at Abbeydale is the men’s 3s who will hope to beat a Harrogate side who finished just one point behind them last season.

On the road, our women’s 1s take a new-look team to Didsbury. With no relegation this season, the only way is up for our girls. The women’s 5s head to Huddersfield, captain Michele Daw will be hoping for a full fixture list this season, with more female members joining we stand a chance. The women’s 4s travel to Halifax to build on their fantastic achievements last season. The men’s 2s, who have promotion as a very achievable goal, face the newly promoted Leeds Adel who were far too strong for Yorkshire Prem. Ryan Barker leads the rabble that is our men’s 4th team to Doncaster, the aim this year it to stay up after promotion to Yorkshire 1. Our 6th team complete the fixtures at Brigg with a healthy mix of youth and experience.

Good luck to all teams. Play hard and fair!

For all new members, we are having New Joiners' Drinks on 13th October in the Abbeydale bar!
