Duncan Longson appointed Head of Performance

Sheffield Hockey Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Duncan Longson as Head of Performance. In this new voluntary role, Duncan will work with the Club's Executive Committee and performance team coaches to create a framework that will provide the conditions necessary to support successful and sustainable National League hockey programmes across both the Men’s and Women’s sides of the club.

Duncan’s long association with the club stretches back over 35 years, and as a former first team captain during the club’s most successful period, he brings significant experience of operating within high-performance environments.

Duncan said: “I am delighted to be working with the club in this newly-created role, and look forward to actively engaging with players and coaches as we begin to plan for next season”.

Steve Hipwell, Chair of SHC said: “With the Men’s team having narrowly avoided relegation this season, the club re-affirms its commitment to its National League programme in making this appointment. We also remain committed to the return of our Women’s first team to the National League in the near future. Duncan will work closely with our head coaches to create sporting environments that allow our performance players and coaches to thrive. On behalf of myself and the Exec, we wish him every success in his new role”.
